Design Leader Introduces Paris Flea Market Styles from the 20s and 30s
This Spring Market, leather furniture manufacturer and design leader, AMERICAN LEATHER announces a new collection inspired by Paris flea market styles from the 20s and 30s. Premiering this April, the new Paris designs are re-adaptations of original pieces purchased by the company. Both the original and re-adapted AMERICAN LEATHER designs will showcase next to each other in AMERICAN LEATHER's showroom, space 923 in the Design Center of the IHFC.
Early 1900s Paris fashion finds new life and a touch of novelty in AMERICAN LEATHER's market designs. Premiering will be Bogart, a 20s-style, flared, high-backed and well-proportioned chair; and Tango, a 30s-style, low-sitting European chair design with sweeping circular arms and exposed wood caps. According to Bob Duncan, president of AMERICAN LEATHER, both designs uniquely combine French 20s and 30s vogue with modern style, resulting in an innovative concept of design.
In addition to the flea market designs, AMERICAN LEATHER is introducing two new studio designs by Rick Lee and John and Mark Mascheroni as well as a new design for the Continental Collection.
Created by Lee, the Echo sofa collection is a clean, flared-arm contemporary design. Echo sits high off the floor on curved, thin wooden legs – which mirror the arm styling – and is highlighted with French seam details. The collection is shown in Elegance Wedgewood leather for this Spring Market.
The Baxter sofa collection, designed by Mascheroni, is a clean, track-arm transitional group. Created for smaller-scale seating, the Baxter collection will range in price and will be shown in Antique Coffee leather.
AMERICAN LEATHER's Continental Collection group, the Harrison, is a contemporary pillow-top design, with separate lumbar-back and double pillow-arm cushions.
For the Spring Market, AMERICAN LEATHER is also introducing several new marketing programs. First, a new four-page corporate newsletter will preview in April, highlighting information about the company, news regarding AMERICAN LEATHER retailers, tips from the designers and an educational piece to benefit the retail sales channel.
In addition, Cary Benson, vice president of sales & marketing for AMERICAN LEATHER, says the company will be introducing a new consumer-focused brochure, aimed at helping to educate the end-consumer on leather, and buying and caring for leather furniture. These will be available through the americanleather.com Web site, or through the retail channels. Moreover, in light of the past months' Web site explosion, AMERICAN LEATHER is launching its re-designed Web site in time for the High Point Market. The site will be more consumer-focused and will offer a room planning tool and an order-tracking feature to check on the status of the furniture being produced.
