Pennsylvania House Unveils Erin's Cottage, Collection Inspired by Irish and English Design Elements
Pennsylvania House will introduce a new collection of Irish and English country designs at the International Home Furnishings Show in High Point this April. Erin's Cottage, a 30-piece assortment of casual cherry designs for the entire home will be unveiled in a charming display within the company's High Point showroom created specifically to evoke the cozy ambiance of a quaint Irish cottage. A variety of design details such as a simple beehive turning, prominent corner posts, raised panel doors and scrolled metal accents lend an air of relaxed, pared-down simplicity to the group. In addition, a liberally-distressed, warm Russet finish and antiqued-brass hardware revealing the beehive detail further enhance the group's rustic charm.
Highlights of the Erin's Cottage bedroom include the 77-inch Donegal Chest, which features rounded and carved corner columns, a simple plinth foundation, three generous base drawers and two raised panel doors in the deck. Two linen-fold drawers provide additional storage while adding interest to the design's mid-section. Also for the bedroom, the Wicklow Dresser offers nine ample drawers and features rounded and carved corner posts, a plinth base and a unique reverse breakfront shape. A focal point of any bedroom, the charming Kilkenny Panel Bed showcases finials carved with the collection's signature beehive detail, and features a scrolled metal pediment and a metal, ladder-like stretcher on the footboard.
For the dining room, the 72-inch Tipperary Table features substantially-scaled double pedestals displaying the turned beehive carving, and uniquely-dimpled corners on the table top. The unusual Galway Chair, featuring a ladderback design with Chippendale scrolled carvings provides a perfectly casual complement to the double-pedestal table. The bowfront Limerick Huntboard, which features a scrolled-metal stretcher, dimpled corners and graceful cabriole legs, completes the casual charm of the dining room.
An extensive assortment of occasional designs, including several exceptional table designs and interesting entertainment and display cabinet options provide ample function within the Erin's Cottage living room. Also, an eclectic array of romantic and decorative hand-painted country pine accents for every room in the home has been designed to correlate with collection and will be unveiled this Market.
Highlights of this pine accent group include the unique scalloped-edge Tea Table, featuring a heavily-distressed honey finish accented with the group's hand-painted floral motif on the table top, legs and apron. In addition, the simple Hanging Hutch, beautifully complements the elegant curves of the Hall Chest, which is decorated with the group's signature hand-painted floral motif on each of its four generous drawers. Also sure to become a conversation piece, the 82-inch Armoire displays the floral motif on two full-length raised panel doors, and features an exaggerated crown molding, a fluted center column and understated bun feet. Finally, for the bedroom, the extraordinary Planked Panel Bed features an 80" headboard complete with an oval antique mirror surrounded by an exquisite leaf carving.
