THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH ANNOUNCES THE GRAND OPENING OF LOWE'S HOME IMPROVEMENT WAREHOUSE

The City of Portsmouth and the Portsmouth Redevelopment & Housing Authority are pleased to announce the grand opening of Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse in the Victory Crossing Shopping Center. To kick off the grand opening celebration, representatives from Lowe's and city officials will host a board cutting ceremony at 9 am tomorrow morning.

Bringing retail back to Portsmouth in a significant way has been a major goal of our City Council, said Portsmouth Mayor James W. Holley, III. The opening of Lowe's at Victory Crossing represents a tremendous first step in that process.

Centrally located within Portsmouth and at the intersection of Victory Boulevard and I-264, Victory Crossing will be a mixed-use development. When complete, the entire project will include a shopping center, a business park, a golf course and the Portsmouth campus of Tidewater Community College.

The Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority worked with the developer Faison to bring the project to fruition. The opening of Lowe's at Victory Crossing and the goods and services they will provide to the community marks the first tangible reward to be realized from the city's hard work in revitalizing Portsmouth's retailer inventory, said Richard Kabat, Faison Managing Director.

This will be the eighth store that Lowe's has brought to the Hampton Roads region. We appreciate the support we have received in this market and we're proud to offer our customers virtually everything they need for their homes under one roof, said Bill Edwards, Lowe's Regional Vice President.
