Benefits of Compact Fluorescent Lamps Extended to New Applications

Today Royal Philips Electronics featured new additions to the Marathon family of compact fluorescent lamps. Comparable in style and shape to popular incandescent lamp types, the CFLs introduced today provide consumers with the long life and energy savings synonymous with Marathon lamps for a variety of household lighting applications.

These additions to our Marathon family truly represent the future of compact fluorescent lamps. The new additions include:

· The 16-Watt Marathon Mini-Household The new Mini-Household will serve as a direct replacement to the current 16-Watt Household. Mini-Household’s smaller size and attractive shape will provide consumers with increased flexibility in using energy-saving light bulbs in a greater number of household applications, such as table lamps with 7-inch harps, as well as ceiling fixtures and existing incandescent sockets. With 6,000 hour average rated life, the Mini-Household will last 5 years and is ENERGY STAR qualified.

· 15-Watt Marathon Mini Decorative Twister The 15-Watt Mini Decorative Twister is perfect for general applications where small size and long life are desired. In addition, its unique ornamental shape (often referred to as ice cream cone or curly fries) lends itself to applications where a decorative effect is preferred. Since the Mini Decorative Twister is ENERGY STAR qualified, users also enjoy the added benefit of energy savings and the lamp’s 6,000-hour average rated life.

· 12-Watt Marathon Vanity Globe Similar in appearance to an incandescent globe, the 12-Watt Vanity Globe is just right for bathroom vanity strips or where a decorative globe shape is desired. The new Marathon Vanity Globe contributes to cost savings in one of the most-used rooms of the house since it uses 70% less energy than a similar incandescent globe‡. With 7,000-hour average rated life, the Vanity Globe will last 5 Years† and is ENERGY STAR Qualified.

· 16-Watt Marathon Reflector Flood Ideal for recessed and track lighting fixtures, as well as other flood applications, the 16-Watt Reflector Flood offers 7,000-hour average rated life . Long life is especially important as new home construction is trending towards locating fixtures in increasingly hard-to-reach locations (ie: cathedral ceilings). Long life reduces the hassle of changing light bulbs that burn out too soon. The Marathon Reflector Flood is also ENERGY STAR Qualified and is UL approved for wet locations, making it ideal for use both indoors and outdoors.

· 15-Watt and 20-Watt Marathon Universal - 15,000 hours average rated life The new 15-Watt and 20-Watt Marathon Universals have the same light output as the standard Universal, but 50 percent more life (an increase from 10,000 to 15,000 hours. Well-suited for a range of applications, including table lamps, surface mounted fixtures and enclosed outdoor fixtures, both the 15W and 20W are ENERGY STAR qualified.
