Burnham Corporation Introduces OPUS Performance Heating Equipment
Nearly a year after the launch of the new V8 Series oil boiler, Burnham has launched its latest effort-OPUS. The OPUS brand represents the finest quality in hydronic heating equipment with the OPUS G1 gas-fired and OPUS O1 oil-fired units. Topping the list of features for the OPUS brand is efficiency with the OPUS O1 oil boiler at 88-90% AFUE, while the G1 gas unit is 97-99% AFUE. Both include an Energy Management Control system and zoning panel as standard equipment.
The O1 features an SA516-70 alloy steel pressure vessel with a two-pass water backed and wet base design with high mass water capacities from 40-67 gallons. Available in three sizes, each with three firing rates, the O1 is wrapped in an 18-gauge stainless and powder coated aluminized steel cabinet with a full control console readily available to the homeowner or tradesperson.
OPUS G1 is not actually a boiler. Instead, it is a unique hydronic heat source featuring a fully condensing, non-pressurized water containment vessel constructed of high-grade 304L non-corrosive stainless steel. The G1's unique heat transfer process allows it to achieve ultra-high efficiencies and greater flexibility in low return water temperature applications.
Available in three sizes, the G1 is also wrapped in an 18-gauge stainless and powder coated aluminized steel cabinet with an easy to read and program control center fully visible. The unique design of the G1 also makes it the perfect heat source for pool heating, indirect domestic hot water heating, and as a heat source for hydro air applications.
The Energy Management Control Center comes standard on both OPUS products and operates on the simple concept of outdoor reset. The pre-wired plug and play technology of the OPUS control center simplifies installation and set-up. The EMC2 also features LED readout and an easy step-by-step programming process.
The piping and design of both products makes them highly compatible to a radiant floor heating or snowmelt system. Both can handle return water temperatures as low as 55°F with no concern for thermal shock.
According to product manager, Matt Kozak, response to the OPUS product introduction at the Radiant Panel Association show in May was over-whelmingly positive. People are excited to see an innovative product that is not only above and beyond anything available from the American market, it is on the cutting edge of technology.
